What are beliefs? Beliefs are thoughts that you accept as true. They influence how we see ourselves, others, and the world. These convictions are often formed through childhood and family experiences, cultural and societal expectations, and emotional or traumatic memories.
What are rules? Rules are the behaviors we live by because of our beliefs. They are our prescribed guide for conduct or action, directing our decisions, boundaries, and self-worth.
Everyone has differently held beliefs which form our own personal rulebooks. But because rules are often formed out of a need for protection, they can quickly become outdated and restrictive. Habits, once formed, are hard to shake.
